$2.50 Collectible Casino Chips (Snappers)
Here you will find the current $2.50 (snappers) casino chips for sale. Many rare, obsolete, and uncirculated casino chips. They are mostly Las Vegas $2.50 casino chips (Nevada, Downtown, Strip), but from time to time we may have many from other areas such as Tahoe, Atlantic City (AC), Reno, California, and cruise ship casino chips. Why are $2.50 casino chips called snappers? This originates from the game of Blackjack in casinos. Casinos have historically referred to natural (two-card) 21's as snappers (what we would call a 'blackjack'). The term snapper is reported to have come from the face down games when players would 'snap' down their cards when they hit natural 21 (Blackjack).
These chips are called snappers because when a player gets a blackjack the dealer pays them 3-to-2. With bet multiple of 5 (such as 5, 15, 25) the dealer must pay the winner his winnings with at least a $2.50 chip, or else two $1's and a 50¢ piece.
