ChipTalkSays: (Disclaimer: The results provided in thismini-review are not necessarily confirmation that the Solomon PokerGuard contains supernatural powers. These reports are anecdotal and donot provide concrete evidence of a particular outcome. The owner mustdecide for themself if the guard delivers on the promise to be "Lordand Master of Secrets and Treasure").

I recieved a complementary Solomon Poker Guard from our new sponsor PokerMetal.com (http://www.pokermetal.com) and was asked to provide a mini-review. So far, I have taken the guard to my home game and to a $100 buy in tournament. No sooner did I put the guard in play was I obliged to pass the ornately crafted piece around the table so it could be inspected/admired by my fellow players. I wasn't completely versed in the mythos behind the symbols on the guard but had a good time speculating about what they meant.

Obviously, the intent of the guard is to serve as a talisman and help the owner survive the variance associated with poker. Here's what I observed during play. In the home game, I came out on top in literally every circumstance where I got in with the best hand. I survived both OESD and flush draws while wielding my new guard. I was not as fortunate in the tournament, however, as I had an opponent suck out by hitting a gutshot on the river against my flopped two pair. The Guard may have had the last laugh, however, as I was able to bust the same opponent later with a lower quality holding. If the only problem you suffer from trying to win money when you play is losing when you get it in with the best then the Solomon Poker Guard may just provide the edge you seek! I finished up 12BB/hr at the home game and managed a 3rd place finish in the tournament.

It is too early to report whether or not the benefits of the guard extend beyond the poker table. I haven't noticed a great difference in the number of green traffic lights nor have I noticed much difference in the attitudes of my wife and children. Of course, we all enjoy spending time together so there may not be too much room for improvement, there.

The guard itself is extremely well crafted. Featuring a palette of dark green and violet (particularly the crystals), the disc looks good in any lighting. My daughter, who is almost 5 years old offered the following opinion of the amulet, "Oooh! PRETTY!" My son (six years old) was less affected with the looks of the guard but thought that it would "be great to throw at bad guys". My wife was amused that I was toting around a purple totem as she is keenly aware that I'm not a particularly big fan of purple. I assured her that despite the success I am having I will not allow her to begin integrating violet shirts into my wardrobe. Some things will never change.

Conclusion: So there you have it. If you're looking for a poker guard remember this one. Not only do little girls find it attractive but young boys will glean hours of enjoyment fantasizing about chucking it at the head of unsuspecting terrorists and mean people. Then there's the tantalizing potential to win copious sums of money when wielding your new lucky charm. What's not to like?!
